1. Team Practices
In your city, an NEEHS director will join your team and conduct an on-ice practice (or multiple practices). In our summer programs, most of our ice times are spent on skill specific instruction; when we have time in the fall/winter, we can develop team related skills. We will meet with the coach prior to the practice and discuss team needs; then, in conjunction with the coach, we will conduct a practice specific to team needs. The benefit lies in the professionalism of our practices – we are efficient and bring a library of the best drills used across Europe and the NHL.
2. Coaching Seminars
Northern Edge knows that the foundation for a player’s development lies in the strength of the coach; the year-round coach is the person who sees an individual’s improvements throughout the year, and is responsible for making a better player. For this reason, NEEHS is pleased to offer Coaching Instruction in a seminar format. Associations are responsible for organizing the seminar but NEEHS takes it from there. We use many different styles to “teach” coaches the finer points of the game: video; lectures; open discussions and of course, on-ice skills demonstrations elucidate how to be an effectice coach. Topics include, but are not limited to: Being an Effective Bench Boss; How to Manage a Great Practice; Teaching Techniques; Off-Ice Training and Motivational Ideas. Also, specific hockey topics can be taught (ie. How to Teach Defensemen; Specialty Teams and Goal Scoring).
3. Organization Consulting
In our fifteen years of hockey instruction, we have had the opportunity to work with various hockey associations and help them develop their programs. From organization mission statements, to visions and finally to program development, NEEHS can help your association become the best it can be. With all our resources, and with our experience, Northern Edge can give your association not only the competitive edge in hockey skills, but we can direct you in how to run your day to day operations.
4. Holiday Camps
What better way to spend the holidays than to improve your skills at a NEEHS mini clinic? Each player will receive the same quality instruction as evident in our summer programs, but in a condensed format. 100% of the allotted time will be spent on hockey skills development on-ice. These are not refresher courses, but rather a new opportunity to learn new skills.
5. Skill Specific Summer Programs
Our Northern Edge Skill Specific Programs started six years ago when we developed our “Goal Scoring” curriculum. Last year, we added a “Defensemen Specific” program to our schedule, and it was an unbelievable success. This year we have added a Junior Development Program which will focus on the development of our more mature players. This program will provide them the necessary tools to compete at the higher levels of hockey along with enlightening them about the many different avenues that exist in the hockey world.
6. Private Lessons
NEEHS staff are available for small group or individual lessons in select areas. Please contact the office for more info - 636-532-9987.
